Suryadatta National School Students Visited To National Defence Academy (NDA) On Kargil Vijay Diwas

 DSC0332   DSC0355

By Ms. Tejswani Sharma:

The Indian Army has always inspired us, so imagine our delight when we were informed that we were visiting. The National Defence Academy, the joint training institute for the Army, Navy and Air Force on the 17th Kargil Vijay Diwas.

Situated in the lush greenery of the Khadakwasla lake , about 20 km away from Pune, this is where the dreams of kargil war Hero Capt. Manoj Kumar Pandey Vir Chakra and many others to become a soldier come true .This was the place  where many a war heroes are born.

NDA alumni have led and participated in every major conflict in which the Indian Armed Forces have been called into action since the academy was founded. Alumni include three Param Vir Chakra  and eleven Ashoka Chakra recipients. The NDA has produced 28 service chiefs of staff, including the current chiefs of staff of the Army, Navy and Air Force. It is a life time experience to visit the Academy, if only just to understand the intense and tough training students just out of Class 12 go that metamorphosis’s shy, indisciplined teenagers into confident smart cadets on the way to becoming officers of our armed forces.

The Equestrian training Area  included  the graves of horses like ‘Slint Warriors’ and ‘Black Velnet’. We were touched and silently paid tribute to the heroes who had won the country laurels.

The magnificent Sudan Block is the administrative hub of the academy.  If the imposing architecture and the beautifully manicured lawns don’t impress you enough, the names of the Martyrs inscribed on the pillars will.

At the Hut of Remembrance we paid homage to the Martyrs who had trained at NDA and lost their lives for their motherland.

The Air Force Training Team where cadets are trained in military aviation and a basic exposure to flying in the Super Demona aircraft.

‘Super Demona’ is an Austrian aircraft, assembled in India with a speed of 250 km/h. Unlike the fights planes, this plane had its wheels fixed along with gliding wings. The aircrafts in the hangar are truly an imposing sight.

We watched a 30 minute film showcasing the training details of the Academy here. This impressive double-storeyed auditorium with a seating capacity of over 1700, hosts lectures, presentations, musical evenings, debates, quiz competitions,  etc., in addition to the  Convocation Ceremony which awards the students with a Graduate degree .

The largest inter service museum of our country held some prized possessions of the Museum including Sword of Captain Console Fernandez of Cordoba used in the Dynastic Wars of the XV and XVI Century, a Sapphire studded silver plaque, original Stone Age weapons, an Ivory Dinner Gong from Kenya, captured Pakistani and Portuguese flags and Uzi sub-machine guns among many others. But what caught my eye was the training suit of the first Indian cosmonaut,Wing Commander  Rakesh Sharma. Also an illustrious alumni of the Academy. I was thrilled to see this as he is one of my inspirations to study further into the field of space science.

As we walked around the Weapon Technology Park we saw various weapon systems and equipment used during actual war-fare.

We drove past the impressive parade Ground where the Cadets were training for the Parade .You could hear the thumping of the cadets feet as they practiced smartly .

All too soon we headed back to our school Suryadatta National School, now quieter and pensive. This visit to NDA brought home to us the immense sacrifice and courage of our soldiers and  we returned home with a renewed sense of patriotism. A salute to these brave sons of India for their courage and Valour . Jai Hind

Students of Suryadatta National School,Bavdhan went for a field trip to Chittaranjan Vatika,Model Colony. The garden was very beautifully developed and was rich with variety of plants and trees.Students watched different botanical plants there and EVS teacher gave them good information of the plants.Students also saw different sign boards of Traffic signals and learnt importance of following traffic rules and regulations. The garden was equipped with  a nice Gym which was open for children and children had gala time playing there.

Students had their food together with the teachers. It was wonderful experience being with nature. This was a learning for them that nature is our biggest school where we learn to give as nature is continuously giving something to us in the form of sunlight, water, fresh air, shadow, flowers, fruits and much more. Nature never says that you are being cruel to me so I will not give you fresh air. This quality of giving we need to inculcate in our students which Suryadatta National School is doing at its best and in future also such activities will keep on happening which will develop these students into a sensitive human beings.

Suryadatta National School students visited Gram Sanskruti Udyan situated in Someshwarwadi as a part of their academic curriculum educational trip. The students were very excited to see the Gram Sanskruti Udyan, Known as Pune’s first mock village which gave them an up close and personal look into the village life through a display of more than 700 statues, water filled wells, animals and farms. The Udyan beautifully displayed the village market, farming, festival celebrations, vendors selling their products, open air schools, tradesman/craftsman selling their products etc. Students watched each and every glimpse of village life with happiness and excitement and asked various questions to their teachers seeing the rustic charm of village life. The teachers clarified the doubts of students and answered in detail to all their queries. Students were also introduced to the concepts of farming and various other rural occupations, barter system and gram panchayat. They were overwhelmed with the artistic work, excellent sculpture, colorful shades, greenery, peace and serenity inside the village park. The visit created awareness among students about village life, mythology, wildlife etc. which inspired them to enhance their knowledge and comprehension. Students relished and enjoyed their breakfast under the green shady trees after their visit to Village Park and after that they visited Someshwar temple an ancient temple of Lord Shiva build almost 300 years ago. Students offered their prayers at the temple. Students thoroughly enjoyed the Village Park and were eager to come back once again to see the Village Park in the evening with all lightning around the Park. Prof. Dr. Sanjay B. Chordiya, Founder President & Chairman of Suryadatta Education Foundation said that, we at Suryadatta National School are always on the lookout for new opportunities which is beneficial for our students and ensure that we leave no step behind for the enhancement, development and up gradation of knowledge of our students. We at Suryadatta National School are always on the lookout for new opportunities which is beneficial for our students and ensure that we leave no step behind for the enhancement of our students.  Students are always encouraged by all the teachers and staff members to take active participation not only in competitive exams but in Industrial and Field visits, sports, co-curricular activities and various other inter school competitions says Prof. Dr. Sanjay B. Chordiya, Chairman of Suryadatta Education Foundation.

The students of Suryadatta National School visited Galaxy Pencil Manufacturing Company as a part of their Academic Educational Curriculum alongwith their teachers and staff members.  They were very keen, excited and eager to see the process of manufacturing the stationery items that they use every day even before they left from school.  The students accompanied by their teachers were taken to the factory where they were given complete information as to how Pencils, Erasers, Crayons and Sharpeners under their brand name KKLEEO are made and were given detailed information regarding the raw materials that are used to prepare them. Each and every process step wise was explained in detail to students as to how eraser and pencils are cut into shapes, how the name is printed on them, how the rubber behind the pencil is inserted , how the eraser is wrapped with a cover, how sharpener is fitted with a screw etc.  The complete information was briefed so well that the students kept on asking questions and were clearing whatever doubts they had in their mind.  Students of 1st and 2nd standard were also asking one question after another.

They were also shown the process of making crayons in the machine.  They were explained in detail as to how the crayons are colored and how does it takes its shape. After seeing the process of making crayons, they were shown as to how the crayons are packed in boxes. They were then taken to the area where pencils were packed by blind people, mentally retarded people who were smoothly doing their work without any mistake.  Students were given demonstration as to how even though the employees were blind; they could pack the pencils even without counting them.  They rightly picked up 10 or 12 pencils by the touch of their hands when they were told to do so even without counting.  This created an inner feeling among students that nothing is impossible if you have the determination to do it.

The students were taken through the different units of the factory to view the various processes involved in the making of stationery.  It was a wonderful experience for the students to know so much about the stationery items that they use and were still bombarding questions and waited patiently for their answers. The visit to the factory was very interesting and educational for students because pencils, erasers, sharpeners are the things that they use almost every day.  They were amazed to see the number of equipments, work and manpower that go into making pencils, erasers and sharpeners. From the initial mixing area to the capping of the erasers, they saw how different raw materials were combined and processed to create different types of color pencils. More than Lakh of each and every stationery is manufactured every day by the employees.

Students gave vote of thanks to Mr. Rajendra Dhoka, the Owner of Galaxy Pencil Manufacturing Company and his team members for giving them an opportunity for such a wonderful detailed explanation and to give them a chance to see their entire manufacturing process.

All of them were given a Kit of stationery item as a token of complimentary gift from the owner and his team members before bidding goodbye to them.

The students of Suryadatta National School, went trekking on a mountain in Bavdhan, Pune. The students from Sr.kg to std.VIII were accompanied by their teachers. The location is close to the school. We started at 9 a.m. from the school. The children enjoyed climbing up the mountain. Soon they refreshed by eating their snacks up on the mountain. They came down the mountain taking each step carefully. It was indeed a great experience. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Students collected different types of rocks from the hill and very enthusiastically they carried the rocks with them to show other teachers in the school. It was amazing to see the energy of children had while climbing the hill as well as playing there and still after reaching the school they were ready to play on the ground. Real education is when you are with the nature. Watching different activities happening in the nature and thinking about the miracles of the nature make children more sensitive towards the nature. These types of field trips can take a variety of forms that meet a variety of needs and can enhance deep, active learning.  Along with the engagement with concepts that is required by these experiences, the student bonding that occurs on field trips enhances the learning experience and creates a learning community as students continue onward in a discipline. Teaching in the field also gives instructors the opportunity to get to know their students in greater depth in terms of how the students see the world differently than the instructor.  This insight into student world-views can help the instructor to better communicate the concepts of the course. From the collaborative learning atmosphere that results from the unique relationships developed outside the classroom, to the deep learning that occurs when students must put into practice “in the real world” what they have theorized about from behind a desk, field experiences are unmatched in their learning potential.  Field experiences early in a student’s career can be formative and can inspire students to continue in a field. Student’s self-reported learning outcome of field trips has very important pedagogical impact

At Suryadatta National School,Pune learning through play is fundamental to our children's education, helping them to develop the necessary skills in life. It's a universally acknowledged fact that children pay more attention to stories when there are visual cues like pictures or animations to flesh out the narrative.  So teachers of the Surya Kids ,the Pre- Primary Section of Suryadatta National School organized a Puppet show to stimulate the children's imagination, encourage creative play and discovery .The teachers used hand puppets as a wonderful interactive way to introduce narrative to the excited students. As the story unfolded at the skilled hands of the teachers and Elephants and Peacocks and Monkeys were brought to life the students watched in rapt silence. but at the entry of Toto their favorite character they clapped their hands in glee. The theme was Wild Animals and the puppets provided a focus for role play, encouraging the children’s imagination and involvement in activities .Using very simple articles the teachers transformed the play area into a Jungle .The Music that was played while scene and puppet changeovers were taking place were also enjoyed by the students. In the end the students all song “I am Polly the peacock”.

The puppet show was a super success as it was a great way to get the children involved in actually telling the story!

A newspaper that gives its reader what the reader wants will last in this competitive world, Discussed journalists at Suryadatta seminar - Current trends and Opportunities in different segments in print and electronic media

Discussed journalists at Suryadatta seminar

Suryadatta felicitated journalists from various print and electronic media organisations on the eve of National Journalism Day. To salute the spirit of journalism, Suryadatta School of Communication felicitated journalists from different media organisations (print & electronic) across Pune on the eve of National Journalism Day on Nov 15.

Working Chairman, Maharashtra Rajya Hindi Sahityik Academy Dr Damodar Khadse was the chief guest. Other dignitaries present include Dr Keshav Phalke, Chairman, Maharashtra Rajya Loksahitya Samiti, Dr Sunil Deodhar of Akashvani, Pune, Shri Abhilash Khandekar, Maharashtra State chief of Dainik Bhaskar Group and many other veteran journalists.

At the seminar on ‘Current trends & Opportunities in different segments in print and electronic media,’ key-note speaker Abhilash Khandekar said, “Newspapers should understand the needs of people.” A newspaper that gives its reader what the reader wants to read only will last in this competitive world. The biggest challenge before the media is to ensure quality content considering the changing tastes of readers.

Mr Phalke said that journalists should not report just for the sake of it but should be objective and concerned. As the social structure has largely become media-centric, journalism should not remain only a profession. A journalist is responsible for overall development of the society. One does not become successful overnight. It requires tremendous hard-work and will power to achieve success in this field. She/he does not become a journalist because of her/his degrees but because of her/his virtues! The responsibilities of journalists have increased manifold because society has become media-centric.

Following journalists were felicitated with Swami Vivekananda Puraskar- Umesh Ghongade (Sakal), Sameer Kodilkar (Prabhat), Swapnil Pore (Kesari), Dinesh Thite (DNA), Parag Potdar (Lokmat), Arun Nigavekar (Saamana), Swapnil Bapat (Saam), Mandar Gonjari (Star Maaza), Pratibha Chandran (Sahara Samay), Narendra Chavan (Next Gen), Appa Dingankar, Anand Agrawal, Nandkumar Sutar, Arun Mhetre, Advait Mehta and Imtiyaz Jalil.

Another motive behind this programme was to motivate and inspire budding journalists and students of journalism. The programme was an inspiring platform for students who wish to make a career in journalism and those studying journalism. Dr Sanjay Chordiya – Founder President and Chairman, Suryadatta Group of Institutes was present on the occasion.

Students were asked to measure their height. They measured the length of room, tables and chairs. With the help of weighing machine they weigh their own weight. Using measuring cylinders they measured the capacity.

Students learnt about different types of shapes- faces, vertices, corners and about 3D images.

The festival of Christmas is always magical and filled with cake, gifts, tinsel, carol singing and ofcourse Santa. And in keeping with the philosophy of Suryadatta of celebrating all the festivals the children and teachers had a lot of fun this Christmas . As before all festivals , the Art &Craft Club had got into action making traditionalChristmas decoration items .The star shaped lanterns ,stockings, miseltoe etc. that were displayed gave the campus a beautiful festive look .Students wore traditional Christmas caps enthusiastically sang Carols bringing joy and cheer all round. The Spirit of Christmas of Yuletide seemed everywhere ! Guided by their teachers, the Creative Club organized a superbly enacted skit on the Birth of Jesus with the Nativity Scene depicted as the backdrop. As it was the last day of the school before the year ended the students of Surayadatta Integrity club conducted the ‘Letting Go’Activity .It involved contemplating within themselves and then writing on a piece of paper 3 things/habits /personality traits/attitudes that they wanted to LET GO off in 2015 The exercise aimed at beginning 2016 on a new and positive note ! What made the festival even more special and memorable was that the students were able to understand that Christmas was also a time for being thankful ,and as much a season for giving as it is for receiving. From that attitude in their heart and in the spirit of the season they remembered the less fortunate than themselves and organized the ‘Art Of Giving’Campaign .Each of them gave a small gift which they could afford and encouraged all the adults around them to do the same. These were distributed amongst the poor children .A small act of kindness on the part of Students but to those who received the gifts it meant a lot.Well done Suryadatta National School.
